Woodthorpe Kart Club to host British Championship
The club, founded about 30 years ago, have been selected to host a round of the prestigious British Historic Kart Championships which will take place at their home track on Sunday, May 8.
The championships are run by the British Historic Kart Club which aims to promote the motorsport’s heritage, particularly from its golden era of 1959 to 1982.

Hide AdWoodthorpe launch their 2016 race season on the weekend of February 27 and 28 with the first round of the club championship.
The 2016 championships, featuring 10 different classes, will consist of 10 rounds to be staged on the fourth Sunday of each month between now and November with practice held on the Saturday preceding each race day.
As well as the British Historic Kart Championships, officials at Woodthorpe are also planning a special event for Sunday, June 5.
But before things get going on the track, the season officially kicks off with the club’s 2015 presentation dinner on Saturday night in Woody’s Bar, at Woodthorpe Leisure Centre.

Hide AdLocal youngsters up for awards include Cadwell’s Liam Hartley, Daniel Drury, from Alford, William Ashe, from Strubby, and teenagers Chris Lake (Spilsby), Kurt Davies (Ingoldmells) and Ollie Dunkerley (Hogsthorpe).
In the seniors class, drivers from Louth, Grimsby and Boston all enjoyed success and will be hopeful of taking some silverware home.
