The Liberal Lads earn a vital 7-3 darts victory

Red Lion took on Liberal Lads this week, with the Lads winning 7-3.
The openening set of singles ended up with Liberal taking them all to lead 4-0, new signing Simon Stainton (2x100,137, 140, 180) and Gordon McQuillan (4x100, 136, 2x140) doing the most damage.

Hide AdThe pairs were shared to leave the score at 1-5 in favour of the Liberal going into the last set of singles.
McQuillan (100, 2x121, 140, 2x180, 17 dart leg) and Simon Stainton (2x100, 121, 140, and a 15 darter) made the match safe before Eric Hammond (3x100, 121, 125, 4x140) played a brilliant captain’s innings for Liberal, but still managed to lose both his singles.
Chris Simpson (3x4 x 100, 2x140) was the best that the Red Lion had to offer.
Ex Service 501s and Arctic Shrew Monkeys shared the honours with a 5-5 scoreline.

Hide AdThe away team stared the better with Shaun Drury (3x100) and Colin Lees (3x100, 121, 140 and 20 dart leg) taking the first two singles.
Lee Yates was next up for the Monkeys and despite 100, 125 and a 104 finish, he found Liam Simms (2x100) to good for him.
Gary Garton (2x100) beat Martin Bell to leave the first singles all square at 2-2.
The doubles were shared with Liam Simms and Gary Garton (2x100, 2x140) hitting a 19 dart pairs leg.

Hide AdIn the final singles, 501s’ Daniel Starkey hit 2x100, 121, 123,180 and a 21 darter, but found Martin Bell (100, 140, 180, 17 and 20 darts) too good for him.
Ken Wilson (2x100, 125, 180 and a 20 darter) beat Lee Yates (2x100, 121, 125) to level things up. Colin Lees then got the better of Liam Simms to edge things the Monkeys’ way, but that man Gary Garton (5x100), beat Shaun Drury (3x100, 140) for the draw.

WMC Amigos and Seaview Raiders played out a 5-5 draw.
The Raiders went 2-0 up through Barry Taylor (2x100) and captain Steven Emsen before Amigos’ Gareth Jowett (4x100) and Mick Seager (2x100) pulled things level.
The doubles were shared again shared.
Kieran Steven Emsen (100, 2x140) gave the Raiders a slender lead but Spencer Davis (100, 121) levelled for the Amigos.

Hide AdGareth Jowett (3x100, 108) put the home side in the lead for the first time at 5-4, but up popped Barry Taylor to win the last singles for the Raiders and force a 5-5 draw.
Victoria lost 3-7 to the Railroad Cobras.
League Cup
This handicap competition is proving to be a problematic one for the higher league teams.
This week New Park Rangers took on new boys Ex Service Spitfires.
With Brad Martin, it was the Rangers who took the first singles, but the Spitfires had other ideas and reeled off the next eight legs.

Hide AdChris Butler (5x100, 125), Rick Seaman (2x100, 111, 123) and captain Jamie Cooper (3x100, 115, 123, 128 180) threw well before Rangers captain Graham Froud (2x100, 2x140) won the last leg, but it’s the Spitfires with one foot in the semi.
Rangers’ Brad Martin was in cracking form hitting 4x100, 123, 134, 135, 6x140, and 180.
Graham Fitton chipped in with 123 and 125.
