Worksop: School kids go green with allotment visit
Pupils from Class 5 at St. Anne’s visited the Stubbing Meadows site on Stubbing Lane to learn more about what allotments are and their importance to the community.
The children explored the 55 plot site, chatted to enthusiastic tenants, and even got to take home a box full of allotment goodies to be enjoyed back in the classroom.

“After asking lots of questions, trying lots of produce and meeting a few feathered friends, we walked back to school literally buzzing from our allotment adventures.”
Coun Julie Leigh, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said: “Allotments are an important asset to our communities and can offer valuable social and health benefits, as well as provide an opportunity to grow fresh fruit and vegetables, for everyone who uses them.”
“It’s fantastic to see pupils from local schools paying a visit to our allotments. Hopefully the trip will have inspired the next generation of gardeners in Worksop.”
