“What better way could we show our gratitude to Her Majesty than to clean up our country?”
One team cleared the disused railway line from Haxey to Low Burnham, including sweeping the path from the A161 to Haxey school and the other cleared the area around Ealand and the entrance to Crowle.
Community groups across North Lincolnshire also took part in the weekend clear-up with litter picking taking place in Scunthorpe, Messingham, Brigg, Worlaby, Bonby, Barton and Saxby – just to name a few.
If every adult picked up just one piece of litter and put it in a bin, that would be more than 50 million pieces of rubbish disposed of.
