Slimmers take the weight off and run in Donington
The third annual Race 4 Life in aid of Cancer Research UK brought more than 50 people to Thomas Cowley High School, Donington, as women and men successful in shedding pounds put their weight on raising cash for a vital cause.
Race organiser and Donington mum-of-five Emma Scarborough (38) led the way as slimming consultant at the village’s Slimming World group which meets at Donington Royal British Legion in Malting Lane on Mondays at 3.30pm, 5.30pm and 7.30pm.

Hide AdEmma, who ran last year’s London Marathon for the same charity, said: “The atmosphere was electric, the weather was lovely, with a nice bit of breeze, and everybody was just happy to be there.
“People really made an effort to be active and enjoy themselves which meant that it was worth all the organisation and hard work that went into it.
The first Race 4 Life took place at Caythorpe House, Donington, in August 2014 and raised £2,000, with the fundraising feat repeated last year when the race moved to the school.
Emma said: “It’s a community event and it looks like we’re on target to raise the same amount this year.”
