Sheridan’s Funny Girl a sell-out
Scores of those who hoped to see the Epworth actress on stage as Fanny Brice voiced their woes on social media site Facebook, after tickets were sold out within a very short time of going on sale last week.
Even the star’s musician brother Damian Dalton-Smith voiced his amazement to facebook friends, adding: “Go on our kid! Sold out already!”

Hide AdIt will be the first stage musical for Sheridan since she scooped the 2009 Olivier for Best Actress in a Musical, in the role of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde.
She tweeted that she was ‘overwhelmed and delighted, and really looking forward to the show.’
Vigilant fans may not miss out as a further ticket release may yet take place.
Funny Girl returns to the London stage for the first time since it premiered on Broadway in 1966 and propelled Barbra Streisand to stardom. Classic songs such as People and Don’t Rain on my Parade feature in the revival with music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Bob Merrill. Michael Mayer will direct the production.

Hide AdBAFTA and double Olivier award winner Sheridan was last at Menier Chocolate Factory in 2006 for Little Shop of Horrors. Previous theatre performances include Hedda Gabler, The Taming of the Shrew, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Into the Woods and Flare Path.
Along with the mass of mopers who missed out on seats for the December 2 to March 5, 2016 show, were a few who cannily snaffled tickets in the early hours of the morning.
On facebook, Gilly Langley gushed: ‘Good job I stayed up to book - 40th birthday present to myself.’
Not so Mark Sedgley who added: ‘There goes my chance of meeting you any time soon. Well done though Sheridan that’s brilliant news!’

Other facebook comments included; Karen Banks: ‘Gutted I missed out...great news for the theatre and for Sheridan though.’
Bryan Hewes: ‘I’m glad I booked just after midnight. Can’t wait to see Sheridan in a musical again.’
