Retford: Christmas tree taken down after high winds
The Christmas tree in Retford’s Market Square has been taken down following yesterday’s (Thursday) high winds.
Bassetlaw Council is now trying to find a replacement.
A council spokesman said: “Unfortunately, during yesterday’s high winds and gales, the Christmas Tree in Retford Market Square sustained significant damage which left it vulnerable to further bad weather conditions.”
“In order to ensure public safety, the tree was removed earlier this afternoon.”
“We are currently exploring a number of options to replace the Christmas tree.”
