Bev Herron, carers’ hospital liaison officer based at Scunthorpe hospital, will be manning an information and advice stand on Friday November 28 between 9.30am and noon on D floor of outpatients.
She said: “Patients, visitors and staff can pop along for friendly help and advice on anything to do with carers.”

Hide AdThere are currently approximately 6.5 million people in the country giving unpaid care to friends and family and this number is on the increase. Bev said: “In North Lincolnshire alone there are about 18,000 unpaid carers.”
She said many people were unaware of their rights, leaving carers’ benefits going unclaimed and people struggling to cope.
Bev said one in five people have to give up their jobs to care for someone else and three in five people will become a carer at some point in their life.
She said: “By supporting carers we can help reduce admissions and readmissions to hospital of the cared for person they are looking after.”
