Weed control improving on the Ancholme
Formal notice was given that the Ancholme River Trust was looking to work with North Lincolnshire in providing additional weed cutting from the Environmemt Agency at the Spring River Users meeting.
Mike Storey of the Trust, and also Brigg Town Council representative on the Ancholme Users group, said: “The Environment Agency are still doing three cuts a year and North Lincolnshire and the trust are providing extra cuts. The river is looking better with less weed.”

Hide AdBank vegetation is being trimmed back, helping create a knock-on effect to the green algae, which despite the recent heatwave and rise in water temperatures has seemingly been less this year.
Too much weed lowers water quality, which disrupts anglers and boat users.
However, excessive weed can also block water flows, which in turn increases the blanket weed.
