Mild winter sees strawberries springing early in Heckington
Jean Sleath, of Wellington Close, contacted us when she stepped out of her kitchen door to pluck some leaves from her raised planters.
She said: “I went out to cut some spinach for my lunch and there they were, strawberries growing from the plants I only put in for this coming year.

Hide Ad“There are three or four, some quite big and others just starting. Others are rotting because of the wet weather. I don’t think you could eat them as they are all still quite pale.
“I saw they had cherry blossom on trees in Sheffield, but this is so strange.”
Mrs Sleath didn’t reckon she would need to get any cream in yet!
