Stage set for comedy night
Jay Islaam is headline act in a comedy night at the Duke of Wellington in Leasingham on Saturday at 8pm.
Jay has a host of awards to his name, including Best New Act at the Moseley Comedy Festival earlier this month, and in 2015 was a semi-finalist in the English Comedian of the Year competition.

Hide AdHowever, he says his comedy is “not always appreciated”, and he has been banned from more than 100 smaller venues.
He said: “My comedy can be very challenging. I will push the boundaries of taste and civility in some sets, particularly when discussing political correctness.
“Some of the smaller venues have been uncomfortable with that kind of satire and social commentary and have blacklisted me.”
Of what to expect from Saturday’s show, he said: “I think my comedy is very much about making people re-think the way they see the world, and I’m drawn to subjects where I think people have misconceptions or have become dogmatic.

Hide Ad“I’m currently doing a lot of comedy about political correctness, autism, religion and politics.”
Jay will be supported by comedians Ben Shannon and Stephen “Friz” Frizzle, both from Ruskington.
