Daniel wins award

Gainsborough cyclists rode out to the Lincolnshire District CTC AGM on Sunday held at The Duke William Hotel in Lincoln’s Bailgate.

The riders arrived in good time to meet up with other cyclists who had travelled from all areas of the county to the meeting by cycle or car.

BBC Lincolnshire Breakfast Show presenter Rod Whiting, who is President of CTC Lincolnshire, spoke about his 600-mile Children In Need cycle ride, titled From The Rhineland To The Fenland.

The ride started from Neustadt an der Weinstrasse in Germany and finished in Lincoln, and he was accompanied by the Breakfast Show’s producer Louise Wheeler and Lincolnshire Echo’s sports editor John Pakey.

They completed their ride in eight days, raising over £20,000 for the charity.

After all the usual AGM business the trophies were presented.

BSA Merit Cup for work done running a member group and its activities was presented to Mick Hallam of the Louth and Grimsby group.

The Paul Enderby Memorial Trophy was awarded to the Louth and Grimsby group for providing the most help and riders in the region’s Audax events.

The West Lincolnshire Trophy was presented to Daniel Nicholson of Gainsborough West Lincolnshire group. He was awarded the trophy for all the work he has put in helping run websites to promote the CTC in Lincolnshire, also assisting and acting as a ride leader on the group’s Sunday rides.

Daniel, 26, is a qualified cycle training instructor and is a great ambassador for the CTC and cycling.

CTC Lincolnshire Photography Trophy for a picture taken of riders on a CTC ride was won by Trevor Halstead (53).
