Worksop: Children help design totem pole sculpture
Sculptor Simon Kent visited Gateford Park and worked with the year four and five children to design and create a totem pole that would reflect nature and the school.
Simon took the the children’s ideas and worked the design around them.
He also gave the children a demonstration of how he uses a chainsaw to create the totem poles and then allowed the children to have a go chiseling and sawing.
Staff also helped by digging the hole for the sculpture to be installed in.
The finished sculpture is made of solid oak and is six feet tall.
