Rasen group’s picnic packs help VE Day celebrations
In all, 250 boxes were put together, each containing a sandwich, sausage roll, crisps, fruit, jelly and cake to help people enjoy a Stay at Home Street Party or garden picnic.
The initiative came from the Market Rasen Town Partnership Coronavirus Support Group, with people from across the town’s volunteers groups coming together to make up the boxes and take them out to the recipients.

Hide AdCoun Stephen Bunney, who chairs the support group, said: “It was a wonderful way of coming together and both celebrating the 75th anniversary of VE Day and supporting people during the coronavirus pandemic.
“The boxes were made possible by a real team effort, with support from local businesses and donations from individuals.
“Thank you to everyone who helped in any way.”
The group is looking at the possibility of doing a similar project in the next few weeks.
For now, the main focus is establishing the Friendship Line.
As reported last week, volunteer call makers are being asked to come forward.
