Bassetlaw: MP slams Network Rail for level crossings U-turn
Mr Mann said: “It is outrageous that Network Rail is refusing to fulfil its safety obligations to the public.”
“I called for a parliamentary inquiry into Network Rail following a young girl’s death in Bassetlaw back in 2012. It was clear that hundreds of crossings throughout the country were unsafe and that Network Rail was failing to look after the public’s safety.”

“Network Rail began the process of closing level crossings in Bassetlaw to stop such a tragic incident happening again but now state they are shelving their plans.”
“This position should be immediately reversed. Lives are being put at risk. With Network Rail, I have personally viewed near misses with packed East Coast Trains.”
“I predict that their abandoning of rail safety will cost lives.”
