There was a hat-trick on Saturday for the pigeon racing partnership of Gough and Reed, masterminded by George Gough, when they took the first three positions in Boston and District Flying Club’s 130-mile race from Sedgefield

Liberated in a south west wind, the birds were well separated by the time they reached home, as is reflected in the leading velocities.

Results: 1, 2 and 3 Gough and Reed 1330, 1291 and 1234 yards per minute, 4 and 5 D. Brackenbury 1229 and 1225, 6 Mr and Mrs Garnham 1223, 7 D. Brackenbury 1207, 8 and 9 Mr and Mrs Garnham 1205.607 and 1205.189, 10 Graham Kirkham 1188, 11 A. Newton and Son 1177, 12 Graham Kirkham 1176.
