Mablethorpe sergeant gives crime lowdown

We welcome the latest policing information and incidents, coming this month from Sergeant Gary Joynes 342.

He covers Mablethorpe and the surrounding areas including Sutton on Sea and Alford.

Sgt Joynes kicks off his very first article, set to be a monthly slot, on his previous experience and when he came to serve in Mablethorpe.

He tells the Leader: “Having previously served as an Aircraft technician in the RAF, I joined Lincolnshire Police in 1998.

“I was initially posted to work in Skegness and I worked there for around seven years.

“From there I was posted to Horncastle and 10-years-ago now I was promoted to Sergeant and posted to Boston.

“Whilst at Boston I carried out various roles including patrol Sgt, Custody Sgt, Detective Sgt and Community beat Sgt.

“I took up my current role of Mablethorpe beat Sgt in June last year.”

Now have you ever wondered exactly how many incidents are reported to the police in this area in a month?

Well Sgt Joynes gives us an update on what has been going on and luckily, it has been a quiet month.

He said: “Our area has been relatively quiet during June.

“We have had 438 incidents in the Mablethorpe and Alford beat areas alone during this period of many different kinds.

“We have attended 30 road traffic collisions, 26 domestic incidents, 25 incidents of violence and recorded several crimes.

“These have included six cases of criminal damages, eight hefts and nine assaults.

“As the summer is now approaching, it is likely we might see a rise in the amount of incidents which are reported to us.

“We have also just sent out a general message to residents regarding rogue traders in and around Mablethorpe who are targeting elderly people and overcharging them for building work.

“So make sure you are on the look out for any suspicious callers.”

Sgt Joynes adds: “We look to you the public to help us keep our area safe.

“If you ever see something suspicious, please report it.
