Here are six stories featured in our titles a decade ago – one each from the Boston Standard, Horncastle News, Louth Leader, Market Rasen Mail, Skegness Standard and Sleaford Standard.
5. Skegness
Stagecoach launching a new, colourful fleet of open-top buses for Skegness. The Seasiders, at that time, were Rocky, Shelly, Candy, Pierre and Sandy, however Skegness Standard readers were being asked to design a sixth member. The revamp included new livery, refurbished seats and interiors, an accompanying children’s storybook and offers. It was part of the bus company’s efforts to support the local tourism industry and provide fun holiday-themed accessible public transport for residents and visitors to Skegness. Sales of the Rocky Seasider storybook would raise money for the When You Wish Upon a Star charity. As part of the launch event, Stagecoach presented the charity with a £1,000 donation.
